    言葉探し (word finder) のツールとしてとても便利です. 例えば、discrimination を, "旺文社ハンディ英和辞典" で引きますと,

    として表示されます. 漢語の区別・識別力・差別待遇という言葉の語感は間違いなく感じ取ることができますが, それらを包含する discrimination という言葉の語感はどのようにして身に付けることができるのでしょう？ Roget’s Thesaurusを読んでいると, なにとなくその語感, discrimination という言葉に関する感性を養うことができそうです. 今朝読んだ”英訳聖書” (NSRV) の中に, "true Discrimination" という言葉が出てきましたが, それは, 主なる神さまが人間に与えた賜物のひとつで, 決して否定すべきものではありません.

    "部落差別" を英語で表現するとき,  "buraku discrimination" と表現してそれに甘んじるのはあまりにも短絡的・直訳的でその真意を伝えることは出来ない. discrimination を使用するときは, 適切に形容詞, 形容詞句を付加して誤解を排除することを指向しなければならない・・・. まして、"被差別部落",  "同和地区" を "部落" と短縮して表現するなどもってのほかである.
