あなたはクロッカスの花のよう・・・

高校３年の２学期、筆者は、Sweden Covenant Mission の宣教師、グンナル・クリスチャンソン先生から洗礼を受けました。そのとき、一緒に洗礼を受けたのは、筆者より７～８歳年上の Watanabe 姉と Seyama 姉・・・。筆者と Seyama 姉は、後日、牧師になりますが、Watanabe 姉は、華道の先生・・・。花屋さんを経営しておられましたが、そのWatanabe 姉から、＜吉田くんは、クロッカスの花のようなひとですね＞と評されたことがあります。筆者を花にたとえたのは、あとにもさきにも Watanabe 姉だけ・・。その理由は、＜吉田くんは、クロッカスの花のように地べたにはいつくばって生きているから・・＞というものでした。ほめられたのやら、けなされたのやら・・・？

今朝読んだ『英訳聖書』（NSRV）に、＜Crocus＞の花が出てきました。筆者に都合のいいように引用しますと、

＜the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
    like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly,
They shall see the glory of the LORD,
    Strengthen the weak hands,
    and make firm the feeble knees.
Here is your God.
　He will come and save you.’
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
    and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy.
For waters shall break forth in the wilderness,
    and streams in the desert;
A highway shall be there,
    and it shall be called the Holy Way;
    the unclean shall not travel on it,
    but it shall be for God's people;
    the redeemed shall walk there.
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
    and sorrow and sighing shall flee away＞.
